QUESTION: Where does it say in the New Testament that we must keep the Ten Commandments?
ANSWER: Jesus Christ Himself says in Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” (18) “For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” Now it’s safe to say, heaven or earth hasn’t passed away.
But, here is more proof from the Bible. I John 2:3 “And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.” (4) “Whoever says, ‘I know Him but does not keep His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps His word is his truly the love of God is perfected.’”
I John 4:2 “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.”
